Booking and check-in

How do I book a cabin?

Choose your preferred cabin, select your dates, and complete your reservation through our online booking system. You'll receive a confirmation email once your booking is confirmed.

What time is check-in?

Check-in is from 3:00 PM (15:00).
Self check-in and self check-out make your arrival flexible and easy. You'll receive the key box code and all the information you need shortly before your check-in time.

What time is check-out?

Check-out is by 11:00 AM (11:00).

Can I request early check-in or late check-out?

You're welcome to ask! We always try to accommodate requests, but we usually can't confirm early check-in or late check-out until the day before your arrival, as it depends on bookings before and after your stay.

What do I need to do before check-out?

Before you leave, we kindly ask that you:

  • Place all used towels in the shower or bathroom.

  • Wash, dry and put away any dishes you've used.

  • Empty the refrigerator and take any food or drinks with you.

That's it! We'll take care of the rest and prepare the cabin for our next guests.

How do I access the cabins?

Log Cabin
The Log Cabin is about a 10–15 minute walk from the parking area. Parts of the trail are steep, so we recommend suitable footwear. You'll receive detailed directions before arrival. Simply cross the stile ("gjerdeklyver") and follow the white arrows to the cabin.

Cliffwall Cabins
The Cliffwall Cabins are approximately a 5-minute walk from the parking area. You'll be able to see the cabins from the parking (behind the oak trees).

Is parking available?

Yes. Parking is free of charge on the gravel parking area. Simply park by the sign with the QR code.

What should I bring and what is included?

We recommend bringing:
  • Comfortable outdoor clothing

  • Hiking shoes

  • Thick socks or slippers (the cabins are elevated to protect the surrounding nature, so the floors may feel cool)

  • Food and drinks

  • Cooking oil or butter for frying

  • Firewood and fire starters if you plan to use the outdoor fire pit

Included in your stay:
  • Bed linen

  • Towels

  • Hand soap

  • Toilet paper

  • Press coffee

  • Tea

  • Salt and pepper

Please note that the cabins have two stovetops but no oven.

The Cabins

How many guests can stay?

Each cabin has its maximum occupancy listed on the booking page. Please check the individual cabin description before booking. R

Is there heating?

Yes. Although our cabins are completely off-grid, they're designed to keep you comfortable. The bathrooms have underfloor heating, while the living area is heated by a gas stove.

Do the cabins have electricity?

Yes. All of our cabins have electricity powered by solar energy. As we're completely off-grid, we kindly ask our guests to be mindful of their energy consumption. To help conserve power, the cabins are heated with gas rather than electric heating, and we ask that showers are kept reasonably short. By using only what you need, you're helping us protect this unique place and keep our cabins running sustainably.

Is there Wi-Fi?

No. We intentionally don't offer Wi-Fi, giving you the opportunity to disconnect from everyday life and reconnect with nature instead.

Are pets allowed?

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely! Families are very welcome. Please check each cabin's sleeping arrangements to make sure they're suitable for your children's ages.

Is the kitchen fully equipped?

Yes. Every cabin has a compact kitchen equipped with cookware, utensils, a mini refrigerator, sink, French press coffee maker and two cooking plates.
Please note that the cabins do not have an oven.

Can we buy meals?

No. At the moment, we don't offer breakfast or other meals. The cabins are equipped for self-catering, so you're welcome to prepare your own meals during your stay.

Is there a private bathroom?

Yes. Every cabin has a private bathroom with a shower and toilet.

Can we have a campfire?

The Cliffwall Cabins have an outdoor fire pit. If you'd like to use it, please bring your own firewood and fire starters, and always follow local fire regulations and any seasonal fire restrictions. The Log cabin was also use the fire pit outside the cliffwall cabins.

Is drinking water available?
Yes, the tap water is safe to drink.

Can I charge my electric vehicle?
No, not at the parking. But there is plenty of charging at "Coop Vikeså", 5-10 min drive.

The Area

Where are the cabins located?

Backyard Camps is located in Kløgetvedt, Bjerkreim, Rogaland—a true hidden gem in Norway. Surrounded by dramatic landscapes, forests and mountains, it's the perfect destination for those looking to experience peaceful Norwegian nature.

Are there hiking trails nearby?

Yes! The closest summit is Solbjørgnipa, which offers fantastic views of the surrounding landscape. Other popular hikes within a short drive include Kaurebu and Storafjellet. Bjerkreim is known for its wide range of scenic hiking trails for all experience levels. You can find inspiration under "activites" or "hiking"

Are grocery stores nearby?

Yes. The nearest grocery stores are only 5–10 minutes away by car. Please note that most grocery stores in Norway are closed on Sundays.

Are there restaurants nearby?

The closest option is Esso Vikeså (approximately 5 minutes). In the weekends its often Thai takeaway at "Phannee's thai mat", also 5 minutes drive.

If you'd like more dining options, you'll find plenty within a comfortable drive:

  • Egersund – around 35 minutes

  • Ålgård – around 30 minutes

  • Bryne – around 40 minutes

  • Stavanger – around 55 minutes
